For the first time, Ukraine received liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States through Greece, which was an important step towards energy independence and integration into the world energy market. The head of the Presidential Office Andriy Ermak in his telegram channel has informed about it.
"It's not just a load is a strategic step. Despite Russia's efforts to destroy our energy system during the war, we won another victory on the energy front," Yermak stressed.
Gas was accepted by DTEK's energy company in the Greek terminal of liquefied natural gas, which emphasizes a high level of international cooperation. According to an agreement with the US company Venture Global, Ukraine will receive LNG by 2026. This, according to Yermak, will ensure stability and confidence in tomorrow for millions of Ukrainians.
"Ukraine is successfully integrating into the global energy market. Together we release the world energy system from Russian blackmail," he added, expressing gratitude to international partners for support and trust.
This event occurs against the background of strengthening the sanctions of the European Union against the Russian liquefied gas. According to Reuters, after the introduction of European sanctions on December 20, the prices of Russian LNG in December fell twice due to export restrictions to Europe.
Thus, the first delivery of LPG from the United States through Greece is an important step in strengthening Ukraine's energy security and counteracting energy pressure from Russia.
