The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to attract nearly £ 1.7 billion from the United Kingdom to purchase modern weapons. Prime Minister Denis Shmigal announced this on the results of the government session on June 11.
According to the Head of Government, the funds will be directed to the purchase of Rapid Ranger anti-aircraft missile systems and Martlet multi-purpose missiles. These systems will greatly increase the capabilities of Ukrainian air defense.
Shmigal also recalled that in early June, London announced a record program for Ukraine's support for unmanned technologies. In particular, it is about allocating 350 million pounds for the supply of 100,000 drones for the Ukrainian forces by the end of 2025.
In May, Ukraine and the United Kingdom also concluded an agreement of more than one billion pounds for the purchase of armaments of foreign and domestic production, including critically important materials.
Earlier, in March, the parties agreed to supply five thousand missiles to destroy percussion drones, including Shakhed drones. These missiles have become part of a large-scale project of LMM-rapid Ranger, designed to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense system.
