The Agreement between Ukraine and Russia provides for a visit to up to 400 Ukrainian prisoners of war until the end of 2023. This information was announced by Dmitry Lubinets, the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, during the telecommunication. It is noted that the first visit to 119 Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russia recently took place.
Lubinets indicated that visiting is an important tool for confirming that Ukraine's defenders are alive. It was noted that of this number of 119 people, some were verified as prisoners of war and the other part has not yet received confirmation. Several soldiers were even considered dead.
Lubinets officially reported that the agreement on holding three additional visits was concluded by about the same number of prisoners of war before the end of the year, before Christmas. This will give at least some access to the citizens of Ukraine in captivity.
