Washington is actively working on a large -scale military assistance package for Ukraine, which is planned to be announced by the end of this month. This was stated by US President National Security Advisor Jacob Sullivan during the 20th annual YES meeting in Kiev.
Sullivan noted that his team is working daily to find new tools to support Ukrainian defense. The main purpose is to help Ukraine stabilize the front and make sure that any offensive actions of the Russian forces will receive decisive resistance. He emphasized the importance of depriving Russia of opportunities for a strategic breakthrough, which would benefit it in the promotion to the East.
Increasing the defense of Ukraine
According to Sullivan, in April this year there was widespread concern about the possible collapse of the Ukrainian front line. However, after additional support measures, Ukraine's defense has increased significantly, especially in critical regions. The Ukrainian army not only held its position, but also performed successful offensive actions, which allowed to create favorable conditions for further struggle.
Sullivan emphasized the importance of solving logistics and prompt issues for the supply of weapons to Ukraine. As an example, he cited the shells of a caliber 155 mm, which is literally removed from the conveyor and sent to the front at maximum speed.
He paid special attention to the decision to redirect Ukraine missiles for Patriot systems, which should be delivered to other US partners over the next 12 months. "I said, take all these missiles, all to the only one, and send them to Ukraine," the adviser said.
