More and more German companies are considering transferring production to Central and Eastern Europe, and Ukraine has been among the most attractive countries. This is evidenced by the results of a study conducted by the KPMG audit firm together with the Eastern Committee of the German Economy.
The survey by the German Cee-Business Outlook 2025 , which was attended by 133 German companies from different sectors of the economy, showed that 22% of respondents planned to move production to Central and Eastern European countries. More than half of the respondents (55%) believe that the value of this region in the global economy will increase significantly by 2030.
The most attractive country for German investment was Poland. In second place - Romania, and the third was occupied by Ukraine.
According to the study, 35% of German companies plan to invest in Ukraine as early as 2025, and by 2030 this figure can increase to 41% . To date, 21% of companies surveyed are already investing in Ukraine.
Ukraine has considerable potential for German business thanks to several key factors:
- Opportunities to become a new energy hub for the EU,
- developed sphere IT and outsourcing ,
- potential as an alternative production site in Europe.
The survey was conducted from November 20 to December 31, 2024 and covered the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, the Baltic States, and Ukraine.
