Ukraine has expanded the list of applications to the International Damage Register

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has expanded the list of categories by which citizens can file applications to the International Register of losses through the Action Application. Now, in addition to compensation for damaged housing and the death of relatives, it will be possible to register several other types of losses caused by war. Prime Minister Denis Shmigal announced this on March 7.

Previously, Ukrainians could apply to the Register only in two categories:
Вання damaged or destroyed housing
.

Now the list has expanded significantly. New categories:

  • Damage or destruction of non-residential real estate (eg, business objects, warehouses, offices).
  • Loss of access and control of real estate in the occupied territories (compensation will be able to get people who cannot use their property through occupation).
  • Serious bodily injury (injury due to hostilities).
  • Forced labor or service (cases where citizens were forced to work under the coercion of occupation administrations).
  • Sexual Violence (victims may apply for compensation).
  • Torture, inhuman treatment or deprivation of freedom (covers cases of illegal imprisonment, torture, humiliations by the invaders).

Ukraine continues to create an international compensation mechanism for Russia to pay for the damage caused. This registry is the first step towards future compensation. The data entered can be used in lawsuits and international negotiations.

"The government continues to work on the creation of an international compensation mechanism for the Russian Federation to pay for its crimes," Prime Minister Denis Shmigal said.

You can do this through the action "Action". It allows you to quickly register losses by avoiding bureaucratic procedures.

With the expansion of the list, more Ukrainians who have suffered from the war will be able to document their losses and claim for future compensation.
