Ukraine has lost its position in the index of corruption perception 2024

In 2024, Ukraine received 35 points out of 100 in the CPI perception index and ranked 105th among 180 countries, which indicates a slight fall in positions compared to the previous year. The main factors that have influenced this result are reforms aimed at European integration and fulfillment of international obligations. However, a number of negative aspects, such as reform sabotage, political pressure on journalists and scandals in areas such as the purchase of the Ministry of Defense and reconstruction, have also significantly influenced the perception of corruption in the country.

The experience of neighboring countries seeking the EU shows that the problem of stagnation in the fight against corruption is characteristic of many of them. Ukraine retains some advantages over Russia and Belarus, but to overcome stagnation it is important to focus on the implementation of international obligations and active reforms.

The key documents that can determine Ukraine's further path in the anti -corruption struggle are Ukraine Facility Plan, EU report on Ukraine and the IMF program within the expanded funding mechanism. At the same time, the situation in Russia has deteriorated significantly: the country dropped to 154th out of 180 and lost 13 positions in the world ranking.

Positive factors for Ukraine are the restoration of public e-declaration, adoption of anti-corruption programs, updating of legislation and active work of anti-corruption bodies such as NABU and SAP. However, the issue of more effective reforms and combating political corruption remains important. Analysts emphasize that although falling at one point is not catastrophic, it is a signal for the authorities to start stagnation in anti -corruption efforts.
