For the demographic challenges faced by the state, high social pensions will become unattainable. It is time for Ukrainians to start saving money for retirement age and be ready to work as much as possible. The first Deputy Minister of Social Policy Darina Marchak expressed this opinion.
She assured that the state would continue to pay pensions from the solidarity pension system, but these payments will be modest. Marchak emphasized that joint and several pensions in European countries are usually a minimal guarantee, and if a person wants to receive a high pension, he must collect savings during life.
In Ukraine, according to Marchak, it is necessary to consider the introduction of three elements of the pension system: solidarity pensions, the introduction of a compulsory accumulative pension system and preparation for employment as long as possible. She urged Ukrainians to start storage of retirement immediately, even before the introduction of a mandatory cumulative system.
In addition, Marchak expressed the opinion that people should be ready to work until it is possible for health, and at the same time retire only when they cannot physically continue to work.
