Ukrainian law enforcement agencies opened 49 criminal proceedings against 124 Ukrainian prisoners of war, which were killed by Russian invaders on the battlefield. These proceedings relate to events that took place in the territory of Donetsk region, in particular cases of execution on October 23 and November 1, 2024.
Denis Lysenko, Head of the Department of Combating Crime, committed in the conditions of armed conflict of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, said that it was possible to identify the three soldiers who were shot dead by the occupiers on November 1 near the settlement of Vyshneve in the Pokrovsky direction. Three more Ukrainian soldiers were also identified, executed on October 23 near Selidovo.
Lysenko noted that measures are currently underway to identify other dead prisoners of war, as well as to find out the fate of two other Ukrainian soldiers who were nearby. He stressed that the persons of direct executors have already been previously identified, and investigators are now collecting evidence to confirm or refute this information.
