Ceremonial transfer of the throne: Denmark welcomes the new monarch

In Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, on January 14, a solemn ceremony of transmission of the throne from Queen Margaret to her son, Crown Prince Frederick, took place.

The Queen of Denmark reported her decision to give up the throne in the New Year's TV. It became a historical event, as Margaret's second became the first monarch of Denmark to abandon the throne for almost 900 years.

At the time of the transfer of the throne, Queen Margaret was 83, and she was crowned over 50 years ago, in 1972. Her reign became the longest among all monarchs in Europe after the death of the British Queen Elizabeth.

The Queen, accompanied by the Guards Hussar Regiment, arrived in the parliament on the Golden Carriage to sign the act of abandonment of the throne. Thousands of people gathered in front of the Parliament building with Denmark flags, expressing their support.

To the new king, 55-year-old Frederick, the tenth, formally belongs to the German Gluxburg dynasty, although he belongs to the French Count Branch Labord de Montpez on his father's line. In Denmark, the monarch has no real power and does not participate in the political decisions that form the chosen parliament.
