The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to expand the contract "Contract 18-24" on servicemen of the National Guard and the State Border Service. This will allow citizens from 18 to 25 years to enter short -term contracts with these structures and receive a one -time cash remuneration of 1 million hryvnias.
This was announced by a government representative in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk in his Telegram channel on April 1. The changes were made to the Cabinet resolution of February 11, 2025 No. 153, which was created to increase motivation for military service during martial law.
According to Melnychuk, those servicemen who will serve in combat will be the right to pay remuneration, to participate in hostilities in the temporarily occupied territories, in the "gray zone" between the Armed Forces and the troops of Russia, as well as in the territory of the aggressor country.
In addition, the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the National Guard leadership and the State Border Guard Administration have been authorized to determine the list of positions for the military ages of 18-25 years. The government also simplified the medical examination procedure-in particular, the requirements for passing a psychiatrist, which should accelerate the process of attracting new contractors.
Earlier, this initiative concerned only the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but now it covers other security structures, which should help to strengthen the country's defense capability and increase motivation for service.
