In Iceland, a popular resort has reopened near the site of a probable volcanic eruption

The Geothermal Resort "Blue Lagoon" on the Icelandic Peninsula Reiking resumed its work after more than a month of closing due to the possibility of eruption of the volcano. The resort management stated that the decision to restore work was made in close cooperation with the authorities, despite the continuing seismic activity and the danger regime declared by the police.

To ensure safety, visitors arrive at the resort with a special bus, as there are defensive structures in the area to restrain the possible eruption of magma. Hotels and one of the restaurants remain closed until Thursday, December 21, when a re -assessment of security risks is carried out.

Experts continue to monitor the situation in real time, and there are currently no signs of approaching magma to the surface. Residents who have been evacuated from the neighboring city of Grindavik now have permission to return to their homes at certain hours, although night stay and walking remain forbidden. Some local businesses have already resumed their work.

The Icelandic Meteorological Bureau has announced a decrease in seismic activity on the Reykynes Peninsula, but additional data are necessary for a more accurate assessment of the situation.

Blue Lagoon is one of the most popular geothermal resorts in Iceland, with more than a million tourists every year visiting it to enjoy the healing properties of mineral pools, where the water temperature is kept at 37-40 degrees Celsius, even in the cold season.
