In Italy, businessmen were suspected of passing on secret data to Russia

The Prosecutor's Office of Milan investigates the activities of two entrepreneurs from Lombardy, 34 and 60 years old, who are suspected of transmitting classified information to the special services of Russia. According to the investigation, they transferred documents, photographs of military facilities and e -safety systems for cryptocurrency.

Contacts with the Russian side began in the Dark Web and continued through Telegram. In addition to financial rewards in the form of cryptocurrency, entrepreneurs probably motivated ideological beliefs: they supported Russia in its war against Ukraine and criticized Western policy.

The investigation involves the Italian counterintelligence AISE and a specialized unit of carbiners engaged in the fight against cybercrime. One of the schemes being investigated was the proposal of suspects to install free camcorders for taxparks in Milan. This could allow Russian special services to receive images from different areas of the city without the knowledge of drivers.
