On July 1, Ukraine has officially entered into force in Ukraine - 230/400 V for a single -phase and three -phase network, instead of the usual 220/380 V. This meets the European standards EN 50160, which regulate the quality of electricity in EU countries.
It is important to note that this change does not mean that there will now be more current in the sockets. The voltage in the network in Ukraine has ever ranged in the range from 210 to 240 V. For most consumers, this transition will be unnoticed and safe.
Modern equipment - refrigerators, washing machines, microwaves, laptops, smartphones, TVs - is designed on a wide range of voltage, usually 220-240 V or even wider. This allows her to work steadily in Ukraine and all over the world, where different power standards are used. The exception may be some old chargers released by the 2000s, which were designed strictly for 220 V. at 230 V they can heat a little, and it may relate to cheap Chinese power supplies. Experts emphasize that the greatest damage to the technique is not stable 230 V, and sharp voltage jumps over 25 V. Therefore, the transition to a new standard is not critical even for old equipment, if the voltage on the network remains stable. Heaters, irons, teapots and incandescent lamps can experience a slight increase in tension. With an increase from 220 to 230 in their capacity increases by about 9%, which can lead to accelerated wear of these devices.
The transition to the standard 230 V does not require changes in the wiring, machine guns or sockets, since all these components are already designed for a voltage up to 250 V and above. However, the owners of voltage stabilizers should check their parameters: old models, designed for 180-220 V, can work unstable at 230 V.
