Weapons controlled by artificial intelligence are being developed in Ukraine

Ukraine is experiencing a significant breakthrough in the development of autonomous drones and killer robots that are guided by artificial intelligence. According to the New York Times, large investments, donations and state contracts stimulate Ukrainian producers in this direction, turning the country into a center for innovation in the field of unmanned technologies.

Ukraine has become a Silicon Valley for autonomous drones and killer robots,-writes The New York Times.

Currently, dozens of companies are developing or already making drones and other unmanned vehicles, not operated by the operator, but by artificial intelligence.

After talking to Ukrainian engineers and military, NYT draws a picture of a near future when swarms of self -controlled drones will be able to coordinate attacks and machine guns with computer vision automatically kill soldiers. More amazing creations are also being developed, such as a weighted unmanned copier, who wires machine guns.

With the exception of ammunition, most of these robots are built with the help of open code and freely sold components. Therefore, many in the West are concerned that such devices can soon appear in terrorists. Human rights activists and the UN also want to limit the use of autonomous weapons, fearing that it will provoke a new global arms race that will be out of control.
