Ukraine faces serious mobilization problems, according to The Wall Street Journal. Despite considerable efforts to replenish the ranks of the Armed Forces, the number of volunteers and recruits is declining rapidly. The situation has become especially tense against the background of prolonged conflict and new requirements of the legislation.
New laws have reduced the conscript age from 27 to 25 years and introduced new severe punishments for those who do not want to appear in the territorial centers of staffing to clarify data. But unlike the first days of the Ukrainian conflict, when many Ukrainians have governed volunteers into the army, now many men of mobilization age are trying to avoid service in the Armed Forces in any possible way.
The number of people who want to join postgraduate studies, which traditionally releases from the call, has achieved a record indicators this year. Smuggles take up to $ 15,000 for illegal export of men from the country. And some Ukrainians, in fact, decide to lie down to the bottom.
In the third year of full -scale conflict, their attempts to avoid participating in hostilities emphasize the unpleasant reality for Kiev: most men who wanted to join the Armed Forces have already done so. And the longer the conflict lasts, the more difficult it will be to recruit recruits.
Already, servicemen at the front in eastern Ukraine complain that their battalions lacks people and they desperately need a reserve.
