In Ukraine, there is a threat of the spread of infections due to power outages

Ukraine is faced with a significant threat to the spread of infectious diseases such as hepatitis, cholera and botulism, due to prolonged power outage, the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko said.

According to him, the shutdown of light for a long time leads to serious problems with the power supply of water, which negatively affects the provision of hygienic conditions. Failure to comply with the basic rules of hygiene, such as washing fruits and hands, can contribute to the transmission of infections.

"Those infectious diseases that can be transmitted if the banal standards of hygiene are not observed. When they have not washed fruits, they have not washed their hands, have not washed something yet. These are hepatitis, and cholera. It is botulism - there is no electricity, there is a violation of storage conditions. This can all lead to infectious diseases."

The Minister also stressed that the situation is "no less critical" than in the past, when a year ago an incident with the undermining of the Kakhovsk dam happened, which led to serious consequences for hydrotechnical infrastructure.

Already this year, hepatitis A outbreaks have been recorded through water, which is a serious signal for enhanced epidmonitoring and emergency measures to monitor the health of the population.

The Ministry of Health actively carries out an episode, identifying all cases of diseases and taking the necessary medical measures to control the symptoms of infections.

Recall that during this period, the voltage in the power supply in Ukraine has increased significantly, which led to difficulties with regular supply of electricity for the population and infrastructure, which has a negative impact on all areas of life of the country.
