Toll highways will be launched in Ukraine

Ukraine is preparing for the launch of the first paid roads, reports UNN with reference to the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Community and Territories of Sergey Derkach. The relevant project is part of the requirements of the European Union, which are aimed at modernizing the country's transport infrastructure.

According to Sergiy Derkach, the government is currently working on six major routes that can be the first paid roads in Ukraine. The main criteria for the choice of routes are the intensity of traffic and prospects for attracting investors.

The official emphasized that in order to introduce paid highways, it is necessary to create a quality road surface that will meet European standards. The funds raised for the use of such roads are expected to be aimed at developing transport infrastructure and maintaining roads in good condition. An important aspect of the implementation of the project is cooperation with the European Investment Bank. Ukraine already has preliminary agreements that will allow you to raise additional funds and provide a proper level of funding for the construction of modern highways.

According to Derkach, the introduction of paid roads is inevitable and aims not only to improve transport connection, but also to economic development of regions. He added that the bill has already been developed to implement this initiative. Paid roads are primarily planned to be used for heavy -duty vehicles that create a significant load on the road surface. This will reduce road repair costs and provide stable budget revenues.

At the same time, alternative free routes will be created for passenger cars, which will preserve social justice and avoid significant financial burden on ordinary citizens. Launching paid roads is a requirement of the EU aimed at bringing Ukraine's road infrastructure into compliance with European standards. As a result of the implementation of the project is expected: improving the quality of the road surface; reduction of congestion on the main highways; creation of new jobs in road construction and maintenance; stimulating economic growth through the development of logistics.

So far, the exact start of the paid roads has not been announced. However, Derkach stressed that this issue has already been resolved and the project will be implemented in the near future. A successful start can be an impetus for large -scale paid roads across Ukraine.
