US Presidential Administration Donald Trump holds closed talks with Iran on a possible new nuclear agreement. According to CNN, with reference to four sources, discussions continue despite the escalation in the Middle East and did not stop even during the Israeli Military Operation "Raise Lion".
The key condition put forward by Washington - the refusal of Iran to enrich uranium, instead is allowed to create exclusively a civil nuclear program. In case of consent, Iran will receive significant economic bonuses: it is an unblocking of up to $ 6 billion in the form of frozen assets, as well as investments in $ 20-30 billion in modernization of energy infrastructure of the country. At the same time, these funds can be provided by the US Allies in the Persian Gulf - in particular, Katar or Saudi Arabia.
Meetings, according to sources, occur in the conditions of strict secrecy. In particular, some of the conditions were discussed at a long -term closed meeting in the White House last Friday, where US Special Representative Steve Witcoff negotiated with the Gulf partners. According to CNN, this meeting was preceded by American blows to Iranian nuclear facilities.
Witcoff himself in a comment by CNBC stressed that the United States seeks a "comprehensive peace agreement" with Iran, but not ready to take on financial obligations. "We are ready to lead these negotiations, but we do not undertake funding," he said.
The parties communicate mainly through intermediaries - in particular, the Qatar is actively involved, which has already played an important role in an agreement on a temporary cease cessation of fire between Iran and Israel.
Tehran is currently not officially confirmed by the next round of negotiations. However, Washington hopes that after recent rocket strokes on nuclear infrastructure, Iran will be forced to make concessions.
However, experts are warning that the recent decision of the Iranian Parliament to stop cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) may indicate the opposite course - accelerating the nuclear weapons program.
