Washington hints at the negotiations between Kiev and Moscow

The United States of America declared hope for the completion of a full -scale war in Ukraine. According to Reuters , US Vice President Jay Di Vance on Friday, April 18, said that negotiations are currently underway that could bring the end of the fighting between Russia and Ukraine.

He told about it before meeting with Italy Prime Minister George Meloni in Rome. The meeting took place less than a day after Meloni's negotiations with US President Donald Trump in Washington.

"I want to inform the Prime Minister about some negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. Even in the last 24 hours we believe that we have some interesting things we can report," Vance said.

He stressed that he does not want to ahead the course of events, as negotiations are still ongoing, but expressed careful optimism:

"We are optimistic and hope we can put an end to this war, this very cruel war."

The comment by Vance was heard shortly after the statement of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who noted that President Donald Trump would not support a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, unless there are clear and real signs of readiness of the parties to compromise.

In addition to the theme of the war, Vance noted that negotiations with Meloni will also cover trade issues between Italy and the United States and in a broader context - between the United States and the European Union.
