Washington leaves the war, freezing the supply of ammunition to Ukraine

The United States has temporarily stopped supplying critical ammunition to Ukraine, including missiles to Patriot air defense systems. This decision, according to The New York Times, may testify to the gradual curtailment of American participation in the war and reducing the priority of the Ukrainian issue in Washington's foreign policy.

People's Deputy Solomiya Bobrovskaya, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Defense Committee, believes that such a change in the course is a alarming signal for Ukraine. "Ukraine is no longer a priority, no longer in the US foreign policy center," she said. At the same time, she emphasized that at least Donald Trump, Joe Baiden's main competitor in the presidential election, frankly declares it to the Ukrainians.

This pause is especially dangerous for Kiev, where most of the six active Patriot batteries are concentrated. According to Bobrovskaya, the missiles are almost exhausted, and this seriously complicates the air defense of the capital: "This is a huge problem."

Oleg Voroshilovsky, the commander of the Unit of Learnings near Kiev, confirms that the lack of protective systems increases the risks. “We will find a weapon. It will be more difficult. Much more people will die, ”he admits.

The freezing of supply coincides over time with increased shelling by Russia, including winged and ballistic missiles, as well as Kamikadze drones. Defense conditions without the proper number of ammunition are critical, especially in constant pressure on energy infrastructure.
