During his visit to Greenland, US Vice President, Jay Di, made an unexpected statement, confirming the United States's willingness to develop partnership with Independent Greenland in Security and Economics. He stressed that Washington would "respect the sovereignty" of Greenland and will not use military force to capture the island.
Vance noted that the US intends to help make Greenland safer and economically strong, since Denmark, he said, was unable to effectively ensure the safety of the island and invest in its development.
"We are ready to create a partnership that can strengthen Greenland's security and improve its economic situation, but it requires much more security and infrastructure investment," Vance said during his visit to the Pitufumed Space Base.
Vice-President also stated that although the United States does not intend to seize the territory of Greenland, they will use their armed forces to protect the island from possible threats from Russia or China.
