A representative of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported that there are currently no new information about the fate of the former head of the Wagner.
There are no reliable data in Ukraine that would confirm the death of the former head of the Wagner private military company Yevgeny Prigogin. This was stated live on Freedom by a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov.
According to him, there is no new data on what happened to Prigogin.
"There is no new data on this. And today there are no facts that would confirm that Prigogine has died," GUR said.
We will remind, the Russian media earlier reported that Yevgeny Prigogin died on August 23, 2023 as a result of a plane crash, in which he died the plane on which he was. At the same time, the Grey Zone media reported that the plane with the ex-head of the Private Military Company "Wagner" was shot down by Russian air defense. Prigogine could have been suspected of conspiracy against the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in June of that year.
It was also reported that Prigogine tried to return his commitment to Vladimir Putin before this conspiracy. On June 23, a round table took place in the State Duma, during which deputies from the Party "Fair Russia - Patriots - for Truth" criticized the Russian government because of the lack of support of their own army. It was noted that this party was loyal to the Wagner and several times tried to legalize a private military company.
Later, the media stated that Yevgeny Prigogin could hide on one of the Venezuela Islands. Russian political scientist Valery Solovyov stated that Wagner leader was warned about preparing an attempt and received instructions on the escape route. However, these data are not confirmed.
On December 22, 2023, journalists claimed that they had identified a person who could be involved in the murder of Prigogine. It was noted that the murder was provoked by the former employee of President Vladimir Putin and his right hand Mykola Patrushev. In the summer of 2022, Patrushev warned Putin that Wagner had too much influence in both the military and political spheres. He considered it a threat to the Kremlin's interests.
