Ukrainian law enforcement officers have explained how they will act in case of detection of military draft evaders and whether force will be used against them.
This was announced by the head of the National Police, Ivan Vyhovskyi.
According to him, after checking the documents of conscripts in public places or any other place, and in the event of a violation of their military records, they will be forcibly taken to temporary detention for a medical examination and determination of suitability for military service.
Such powers of law enforcement officers are provided for in Articles 210 and 210-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. In other words, the police officer must carry out the administrative detention of the person and deliver him to the military commissariat.
In addition, the head of the police noted that law enforcement officers are authorized to take coercive measures in the course of performing their duties.
"Physical influence and the use of special means are possible only in case of resistance of the person and his disobedience to the orders of the police officer. Therefore, in case of active resistance, a police officer can use rubber and plastic batons, electric shock devices of contact and contact-distance action, as well as means of limiting mobility (handcuffs, nets for fixation, etc.)," he emphasized.
