Witcoff went to Putin without the participation of Rubio

On April 23, Special Special Messenger of US President Donald Trump went to Moscow for another personal meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, April 25, and, according to the American edition of Axios , it should become part of a broader diplomatic initiative by Washington to settle the war in Ukraine.

This is the fourth meeting of Vitcoff with the Kremlin head. Previous contact took place only two weeks ago-April 11 in St. Petersburg. Such regularity of negotiations testifies to the active involvement of Vitcoff in the process of unofficial diplomacy, in particular in the context of discussing the "last proposal" of President Trump, which allegedly provides a number of specific steps to the termination of hostilities.

According to sources, the negotiations held in London on April 23 did not take place in the format, which was initially calculated by American allies. The United States was not represented by the highest level - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Steve Witcoff did not arrive at the meeting. The only representative of Washington was Kit Kellogo, specialist President Trump on Ukraine, who negotiated with the head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak.

According to Kellog, the meeting in London was "positive", and the United States believes that the moment came to a real movement forward towards the end of the war - by ceasefire, beginning of negotiations and finding a political compromise.

In parallel with the negotiations in the UK capital, Vitcoff is preparing for direct discussion with Putin. The official details of the future meeting are not disclosed, but the sources in the US administration report that the agenda will include key conditions in which Washington could support a peace agreement - including the ceasefire, security guarantees for Ukraine and the gradual removal of individual sanctions.
