Xi Jinping's visit to Europe: Cold War differences rekindled

The last visit of China's leader Xi Jinping to Europe has discovered new differences and tensions that are reminiscent of the Cold War, Bloomberg says.

In addition to the opportunity to take some photos and taste local delicacies, Xi Jinping has received little - or gave - in two days of his stay in France with President Emmanuel Macron. However, the visit of China's leader to Eastern Europe was more pronounced, allowing him to add Serbia to the list of countries that support his vision of the world order, and to influence the more intense relations between Hungary and the European Union.

According to Bloomberg, although Xi Jinping called to avoid the "New Cold War", his diplomacy revived the differences of the previous one by adjusting the East of Europe against the West.

During the Chinese-French summit in Paris, Xi Jinping and Macron signed 18 agreements, but in general negotiations between leaders were distinguished by differences on trade. Macron also hoped that, having established a closer personal relationship, he would be able to convince the Chinese leader to influence Russian President Vladimir Putin and the war in Ukraine, but Xi Jinping, as reported, did not change his position.

Conversely, the visits of Si Jinping to Serbia and Hungary were imbued with trust and cooperation. In Budapest, the leader of China announced a number of new investments and called Hungary for Prime Minister Victor Orban as a model of Brussels with Beijing. In Belgrade, Xi Jinping and President Oleksandr Vuchich signed a joint statement about the construction of a single fate of the Chinese-Serbian community, resulting in Serbia first among European countries, joined China's efforts to create a world-class coalition.
