The authorities of Brazil, Indonesia and the Republic of South Africa (South Africa) have expressed concern about the use of Western weapons in the conflict in Ukraine and believe that the prolongation of the war may be the result of the manipulation of "certain military-industrial complexes." These statements were made after a briefing by China's Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs, Li Hui, who recently visited these countries and held talks with local authorities regarding the situation in Ukraine.
Li Hui, during his visits to Brazil, Indonesia and South Africa, discussed with the representatives of the governments of these three countries the issue of the conflict in Ukraine and possible ways of its settlement. According to him, the discussion with the government officials of these countries showed that they are concerned not only about the immediate military situation, but also about how the duration of the conflict can be used for the benefit of certain military-industrial complexes.
Representatives of Brazil, Indonesia and South Africa emphasized that the continued supply of Western weapons to Ukraine could lead to further escalation of the conflict and prolongation of the war, which, in their opinion, could benefit some industrial groups that profit from military orders. They called for a cautious approach in matters of military aid and drew attention to the need for a political settlement.
We will remind that China, Brazil and other countries of the "global South" have repeatedly called for a ceasefire at the front and the start of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia. These countries insist on the need for a peaceful resolution of the conflict and the resumption of diplomatic efforts to achieve sustainable peace.
