London High Court: Assange will be able to challenge extradition to the US

The High Court of London ruled that WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has the right to challenge his extradition to the United States. This decision has become a significant step in the long -term legal battle of Assange, which has been going on for more than ten years.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange may challenge the decision about his extradition to the US. Such a verdict was awarded the high court of London. Assange extradition was suspended in March this year after the high court of London stated that the US should provide assurance guarantees. It was said that he would not be threatened with the death penalty, his rights would not be invited in court, and he would be able to enjoy freedom of speech.

On Monday, the judges concluded that the US materials presented were not enough and they will allow the appeal.

Assange Stella's wife said it was a "good sign." She also called on US President Joe Biden to withdraw from him. Australia Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who opposes the maintenance of Assange in custody (the defendant is a citizen of Australia), called the decision encouraging.

Last month, US President Joe Biden said he was considering Australia's request to stop the case and allow Assange to return home.

From 2012 to 2019, Assange was at Ecuador Embassy in London. After the Ecuador deprived the journalist's right to political asylum, Assange was sent to the British prison of the strict regime.

His supporters say that he was in prison, as well as lawsuits have already affected his physical and mental health.

The 52-year assumption has been charged with espionage and one accusation of the unlawful use of a computer in the United States after in 2010 he published many secret documents concerning the actions of the US military during wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. In the United States, Assange faces 175 years in prison.
