The deputy editor -in -chief of Bild Paul Roncheimer concluded that Germany should prepare for the opportunity to assist Ukraine independently without the participation of the United States. This conclusion was made after his participation at the Congress of the US Republican Party, where it became clear that Donald Trump was a favorite in the upcoming presidential election.
Roncheimer notes that the German government underestimates the likelihood of Trump's victory, and this can be a serious problem. He emphasizes that any government attempts to criticize or underestimate Trump can contradict Germany's interests. In his opinion, Germany should take some measures now to prepare for the possible return of Trump to power.
Roncheimer highlights three main steps that Germany should take:
1. Establishing contact with Trump: Chancellor Olaf Scholtz must establish direct contact with a possible future President Trump. This is necessary to avoid misunderstandings and to prepare for possible changes in US policy.
2. Development of economic plans: Germany must prepare for the possible economic consequences of Trump's rigid trade policy, including the possibility of imposing penalties. This will help protect the German economy from potential shocks.
3. The support plan of Ukraine: Germany and other Ukraine supporting countries should develop a plan of action in case the United States ceases to assist Ukraine. This will ensure the continuation of Ukraine's support in its fight against Russia.
Roncheimer notes that even if the situation is not as dramatic as it is predicted, it is now clear that Trump will demand more responsibility from Europe. Miloku party conference has become an important signal for the German government that requires immediate action.
