If not Biden, then who will be the candidate for the presidency of America?

Joe Biden, who holds the post of president from 2021, has faced growing criticism and underestimation of his chances of winning the next election. Rumors about his possible exit from the race for the presidential seat are increasing due to poor results in public opinion polls and health monitoring.

According to the American publication Axios, Joe Biden may withdraw from the US presidential race this weekend (July 20-21). Other party leaders and close friends believe he will not be able to win and change the perception of his age. Allegedly, he has already come to terms with the growing pressure, the bad results of the polls. In addition, the ABC channel reported that Joe Biden himself commissioned a poll among voters to find out whether they would support Kamala Harris in the race for the presidential seat. Rumor has it that the statement that the president has contracted the coronavirus is nothing more than a strategic move made before the politician retires. We analyze the situation and predict who can replace him in the presidential race.

Candidate No. 1 - a person of low influence (Kamala Harris)

Several candidates are now named. Joe Biden himself, as we have already mentioned, is betting on his vice president - 59-year-old Kamala Harris. The Wall Street Journal writes that party sponsors are leaning towards her candidacy. But the whole problem is that it does not have much authority among the Democrats themselves and among their electorate. Harris showed herself to be neither charismatic nor influential at all. She can be called a creature of Biden in all his views. He supports Ukraine - so does she, but only in words. Because the vice president of the United States is a "wedding general": he is as influential in the system of power as the president of the United States allows him to be.

Candidate No. 2 and No. 3 are not really wanted (Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton)

60-year-old Michelle Obama, the wife of Barack Obama, according to an Ipsos poll for July 1-2, is the only possible candidate from the Democratic Party who could defeat Trump. But she is more of a trendsetter and the face of many humanitarian projects and commercial campaigns than a politician. Michelle Obama never convinced anyone that she could become a politician, but she didn't really try. And now it is very difficult to say whether she has the traits necessary for the president of the United States. It seems that Michelle herself doubts this, so she is not particularly eager to become president. And if she becomes him, then, most likely, she will follow the same policy towards Ukraine as her husband - total indifference. According to other polls, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton could also beat Trump in the election. But she has not yet announced her intention and desire to return to politics and get involved in the presidential race again.

Candidate #4 – Charismatic, but Little Known (Gretchen Witmer)

But, in addition to these candidates, there are also charismatic politicians who some of the sponsors of the Democratic Party intend to support. First of all, it is the 52-year-old governor of Michigan Gretchen Whitmer, whom The Washington Post calls the "perfect on paper" candidate.

She is loved in Michigan itself for her successful and progressive reforms, including increasing tax credits for low-income families, protecting the rights of the LGBT community and introducing some gun control measures. As for Ukraine, she will most likely adhere to the common line of the Democrats and support our country.

At the same time, Michigan is the same state that is wavering, that is, it will be among the key ones in the upcoming elections. The publication writes that Gretchen Witmer is knowledgeable, competent and charismatic, sometimes sharp. That is, this is exactly what people like. But it has one disadvantage - it is not well known at the all-American level. It takes time, resources and effort to promote it in the short period left before the elections.

Candidate #5 – governor of the richest state (Gavin Newsom)

The second candidate to replace Biden, who also likes the party's sponsors, is California Governor Gavin Newsom. The governor of California, unlike the governor of Michigan, is already well known at the federal level.

Newsom has a background in business and was the mayor of San Francisco before being elected governor of California, the most populous and richest state in the United States. Gavin Newsom is a representative of the American elite, his father is a judge, and his great-grandfather is one of the founders of the medical school at Stanford. Before politics, Newsom was quite successful in business, has wide connections and influential friends.

He himself is a convinced liberal, moreover, he is ready to defend his beliefs not only in words. During the years of Trump's administration, he effectively sabotaged his efforts to deport illegal immigrants, and also advocated for gun restrictions, harshly criticized attempts to ban abortions and limit LGBT rights. Regarding Ukraine, he will also adhere to the common policy of the democrats.

In addition to them, the current Secretary of Transportation, 42-year-old and openly gay Pete Buttigieg, and the veteran of American politics and the leader of the left wing in the Democratic Party, 82-year-old Bernie Sanders, may also participate in the Democratic primaries to replace Biden.
