The Head of the Presidential Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak met with the US Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witcoff. The main topic of discussion was Russia's non -constructive position in the context of peace talks. Yermak reported this on June 3 in his Telegram channel.
According to the head of the OPA, the Russian side deliberately delay the negotiation process, using it for manipulation and trying to avoid US sanctions. Yermak stressed that Moscow does not demonstrate readiness for ceasefire.
"The change in the position of Russia is only possible under real pressure, in particular due to increased sanctions. We support the US initiative to cease fire in March, and are ready to meet the leaders that Russia is still avoiding," he said.
During the meeting, Yermak also invited Vitcoff to visit Ukraine to get acquainted with the situation.
Before that, in early June, Yermak held separate negotiations with the US Special Representative for Ukraine Kellog. Then the parties discussed the situation on the front, the results of previous negotiations in Istanbul, sanction pressure on Russia and the need for further military support.
These meetings were held as part of a visit to the Ukrainian delegation to the United States. It is headed by the first Viceremier - Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko. The delegation also includes representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Presidential Office.
Among the topics that are planning to discuss in the United States: sanction policy, support for Ukraine in the war, the return of stolen Ukrainian children, counteraction to Russian propaganda, in particular on the church issue.
