From March 1, one of the European Union countries plans to stop oil imports from the Russian Federation. This decision corresponds to the EU's alertness on the geopolitical situation and the investigation of possible consideration in the European Union the possibility of sanctions against Russia in connection with its actions in Ukraine and other regions.
In 2024, the European Union will become less than Russian oil. Yes, on March 1, oil imports from the Russian Federation will ban Bulgaria, reports Efe.
It is noted that the ban on Russian oil in Bulgaria will take effect earlier, since the country has allowed not to comply with the conditions of the pan -European ban by the end of 2024.
The publication also states that in December this year, Bulgaria is going to prohibit the processing of oil that takes place at the Lukoil plant in Burgas. At the same time, the country's final decision has not yet been made. It is the only oil refinery (refinery) in Bulgaria, owned by the Russian fuel giant.
When EU countries banned oil imports from Russia in June 2022, Bulgaria received a "special status" by the end of 2024. The reason: her "geographical predisposition".
The fact is that Bulgaria is seriously dependent on the branched oil refinery of Lukoil in Burgas. The plant is located on the Black Sea coast, it provides 80% of the country's needs for diesel and gasoline. The plant also provides a tenth of the country's economic production. At the same time, the status of Bulgaria made it possible to avoid restrictions, so that Moscow has earned almost a billion euros for war against Ukraine.
