Prior to the adoption of the Global Peace Summit, only a few weeks remained, but according to the Western media, the European Union takes into account the possibility of holding another such event in the fall, with the participation of Russia. Currently, the EU is considering various options for continuing diplomatic talks on peace in Ukraine after the planned summit in Switzerland, which will take place on the initiative of Kyiv on June 15-16.
In particular, the EU considers it important to organize a meeting in Saudi Arabia in the fall with the participation of the Russian Federation, which is considered as a continuation of the June summit. It should be noted that in 2023 in Jedda, Saudi Arabia, negotiations have already taken place on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which were attended by more than 40 countries.
Experts believe that a possible peaceful summit in Saudi Arabia with the participation of the Russian Federation can bring a number of important issues that need to be addressed to the surface.
"The Peace Sumith in Saudi Arabia, initiated by the EU, testifies to the desire of our partners for the speedy end of the conflict. Without the involvement of the Russian Federation, any agreement will not be stable in nature. However, as President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, our ideas about peace, are especially fair peace, are noted.
The expert notes that after two years of the war, some partners still show a willingness to sit at the negotiation table with the Russians without a single consolidated position and under Putin.
"Information about the possible summit in Saudi Arabia is now unofficial, but this is what they say. Therefore, we must explain to our partners that we are absolutely not opposed to meeting in Saudi Arabia. However, before doing so with the Russian Federation, we must establish a clear road card for Russian-Ukrainian. Buryachenko.
According to the expert, all these experiences should be based on a "single formula", which is currently on the geopolitical table - the formula of peace of Ukraine, or the "formula of Zelensky".
"Meeting in Saudi Arabia may become part of a series of peace of peace, because the first initiated summit in Switzerland will be constituting. But before that we have to take a single position, without which it will be difficult to reach a fair peace with Russia," - sums up Alexei Buryachenko.
Political scientist Oleg Saakyan puts another emphasis, noting that the lack of refutation of information about the summit in Saudi Arabia confirms the logic that is currently being considered in the European Union. According to him, this logic is aimed at demonstrating Russia's non-constructiveness for the global south, showing the openness of Ukraine and the West to any opportunities for diplomatic settlement of the conflict.
"It will be a coordinated day between partners during the Peace summit, which will then be transferred to the Russian Federation. If the Russian Federation agrees to these conditions and accepts them as a basis for diplomatic completion of the Russian-Ukrainian war, it will be designed at a joint meeting in Saudi Arabia. conditions or borders held during the war, ”Oleg Saakyan states.
The consent of the Russian Federation to these conditions, according to the expert, will allow you to move further along the path of peace, consistent with the position between civilized countries, "which put the force of law and not the right of force in the first place."
Answering the questions of focus on the possibility of Russia's consent to the Summit in Saudi Arabia, Oleg Saakyan noted: “Much will depend on how the agenda will form and what geopolitical conditions will be at that time. Saudi Arabia will be a test for China to determine if it is ready to use its influence on Russia on the issue of war between Russia and Ukraine as part of diplomatic efforts. ”
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has already expressed his position on a possible peaceful summit in Saudi Arabia. He noted that during the Norman negotiations and the Minsk agreements there were about 200 rounds of negotiations with the Russians, but no results were achieved.
The President also stated that it is not necessary to sit at the negotiation table with Russia even in grain -related cases, "because the Russian Federation will still lie, so it is better to enter into the agreement through Turkey and the UN." He also stressed that peace also plan to consider the opportunity to first establish positions without Russia, and then transfer to them these positions.
In connection with the proposals and initiatives of other countries, in particular the EU, President Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is ready to consider them "if it is a fair peace."
Meanwhile, according to the Russian media, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the possible peaceful summit in Saudi Arabia, noted that "nothing has been resolved yet." However, the Kremlin representative escaped the clarification as to whether Moscow would consider the possibility of participating in such an event at the invitation of the EU Member States, whether it would reject this invitation.
