The European Union stated the creation of special operational groups that would respond to hybrid threats and coordinate measures to prevent them and consequences.
According to the announcement, the EU Council has approved a framework today to form such groups that will be used as needed to prevent and counteract hybrid threats and stocks.
These groups are seen as a key tool to support the EU Member States and their partners in counteracting hybrid threats. They will provide qualified and directed assistance for a short time aimed at supporting EU missions and operations in the field of security and defense, as well as to support EU partners in the fight against hybrid threats.
Given the growth of safety threats, including misinformation, cyberattacks, attacks on critical infrastructure and interference with electoral processes, rapid response groups will be an important part of the EU effort to counteract new and future threats.
The creation of such groups was made possible by adopting the EU Strategic Compass in 2022, which provides for a new structure for responding to hybrid threats and their consequences. These groups will unite experts in various fields of safety, which will allow them to respond effectively to new challenges in this area.
