The European Parliament (EP) has approved an important resolution on the forced export and deportation of Ukrainian children by Russia. This document was supported by 516 by the MEP, while 34 abstained and 3 voted against. The resolution emphasizes the need to terminate the violent deportation of children, illegal adoption and other violations made by Russia as part of its "genocide strategy", which it implements with the support of Belarus.
In his address, the EP stated that these actions are aimed at destroying Ukrainian identity through the violent export of children and their Russification. According to the website, Russia should immediately provide information on the location of all deported Ukrainian children, as well as ensure their safe return to Ukraine. It also emphasizes the importance of ensuring access to deported children to international organizations, such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, UNICEF and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Deputies urge the European Union and Member States to join an international coalition that is working on the return of stolen children. They also emphasize that the international community should work on bringing Russia to justice through international courts, including the International Criminal Court and the Special Tribunal for Investigating Crimes of Aggression against Ukraine.
This resolution is part of the EU efforts and international organizations to document human rights violations in Ukraine and hold the perpetrators responsible. The issue of abduction of children has become one of the largest humanitarian tragedies, and the international community continues to work on their return.
The European Parliament noted that the issue of stolen children is a priority for European policy on Russia, and emphasized the need for close cooperation with Ukraine, international organizations and human rights groups to ensure the rights of children and their return home.
