The creation of its own army should give the European Union readiness to ensure peace, control and restraint, as well as rapid and joint response to events. Vice Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Antonio Tayany, considers it necessary to create their own armed forces to play the role of peacekeepers and prevent conflicts.
"If we strive to act as peacekeepers in the world, we must have our own European armed forces. This is a key condition for successful European foreign policy," he said.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the face of such major world players as the USA, China, India and Russia, which have a huge impact from the Middle East to the Indo-Pacific, only the European Union can effectively protect its citizens from crises.
Tayani added that the EU, compiled from 27 countries, should reorganize its leadership and unite it under the sole president, abandoning the current structure with the Chairman of the European Council and the Chairman of the European Commission.
Previously, the possibility of creating a common army in the EU, initiated by the head of European diplomacy by Josep Borrel in 2021, which supported the idea of creating a rapid response forces in the EU.
Germany, France and Italy may have a great military capacity in the EU, where the number of servicemen exceeds 200,000 people in each country followed by Poland and Spain.
