“We, Europeans, support the US initiative by preparing a 17th package of sanctions. Yesterday I assured Senator Lindsey Graham that we will try to coordinate these two sanctions packages both in terms of content and in terms, ”the French Foreign Minister said.
Details about the content or exact date of adoption of a new package have not been disclosed. However, the European Union emphasizes that sanctions policy will remain a flexible pressure tool until Russia changes its course.
The Minister also stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin is "the only obstacle to peace in Ukraine." He noted that Kiev has fulfilled its part of the arrangements, instead Moscow continues to ignore the calls for ceasefire.
