The European Union considers the possibility of increasing the control of weapons to Ukraine by creating a pan -European defense market. According to the information published by the Euractiv Portal, the European Commission is working on the development of the European Defense Industry Strategy (EDIS) to coordinate military supplies at the Union level.
One of the documents indicates that "the integrated and competitive European defense market will allow the European defense technological and industrial base to use the benefits of scale effect, which will increase the productivity of industrial organizations."
The EU plans include identifying weaknesses in supply chains, simplifying transfers, sharing production capacity and providing supplies through financing from the European Defense Fund (EDF). This is aimed at avoiding the risks associated with crises, export control and logistics problems that can reduce defense supplies.
