More than 23,000 male students over the age of 30 were expelled from Ukrainian universities

In the period from April to August 2024, 23 448 male students aged more than 30 years were dismissed from Ukrainian higher education institutions. The main reasons were academic failure, missing classes, as well as the use of the status of an education applicant to avoid the performance of civic responsibilities.

According to the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, most of the deductions were initiated by the results of the work of internal systems of quality control of education. In addition, more than 5,000 violations have been identified by the State Education Quality Service Service, which also became the basis for termination of study.

"The university is a place of finding knowledge, practical application and value comprehension of the world. We do not have to allow higher education not for its intended purpose," Vinnytsky stressed.

To combat disabilities, the Ministry of Education and Science has taken tough measures: a number of universities that were enrolled in mass conscripts in violation of license standards, licenses were deprived. In addition, the National Police opened eight criminal proceedings against higher education officials, but the real number of such cases, according to the ministry, is greater.

This step is intended to protect the reputation of higher education and to ensure that its resources are used solely for their intended purpose - for the formation of knowledge, skills and values among students.
