The defender of the national team of Ukraine Ilya Zabarny expressed his attitude to the controversial episode in a match with Italy, when the referee did not point out a penalty for foul on Mikhail Mudrik in the last minutes of the game. Zabarny acknowledged that in the field the situation looked like a violation, but the referee made another decision.
"It seemed to be violated on the field, but the arbiter approved such a decision. We would all notic the weight of this match, and as UEFA it was necessary for Italy. So if there were 50 to 50 - they would not have been put. If there was a hundred percent moment, they would appoint a penalty.
It is worth noting that after the game, UEFA President Oleksandr Cheferin expressed support for Italy's qualification at Euro-2024, calling it "too important". Zabarny did not find hostile to the rival by the arbitrator as a whole in the game.
The national team of Ukraine drew it with Italy in the final selection match. Blue-yellow for direct access to Euro-2024 was not enough victory, while the Italians had enough night.
