NABU staff increase: the Council approved a step in the fight against corruption

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine took an important step in the direction of strengthening the fight against corruption by voting for draft law No. 10203-1 on increasing the staff of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU). According to the legislative initiative, which is a requirement of the European Commission, the staff of NABU will increase by 100 detectives for three years in a row.

So far, the document has passed the first reading with the support of 323 people's deputies and has been adopted as a basis. It is noted that from 2024, the number of detectives will increase by 100 people annually, and in general, this measure will cost the budget 1.7 billion hryvnias over three years.

"What it's about: 300 detectives in three years, 100 detectives plus annually, starting in 2024. UAH 1.7 billion in three years," People's Deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko said in his Telegram channel.

In parallel with this, the draft law was approved in the first reading, which gives the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAZK) the authority to check property acquired before entering the public service (No. 10262). This step is considered important for the European integration of Ukraine and received 287 votes.
