Zelensky and Karney discussed air defense sanctions and support of Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held an important meeting with Canada Prime Minister Mark Karney, during which several key issues related to international security and cooperation between the two countries were discussed. One of the main points of negotiations was sanctions against Russia, the issue of supply of air defense (air defense) for Ukraine, as well as work at the seven group (G7).

Zelensky congratulated Mark Karney on the victory of his party in the last elections and expressed confidence that relations between Ukraine and Canada would remain strong. In this context, the Ukrainian President also thanked Canada for his unchanged support and noted that the country is actively cooperating at international sites, in particular in G7, where Canada is currently presiding.

One of the main topics of negotiations was the issue of sanctions against Russia. Zelensky emphasized the importance of continuing the policy of rigid sanctions aimed at isolation of the aggressor and punishment for war crimes committed by Russia in Ukraine. The leaders of the two countries agreed that it was necessary to continue pressure on Russia to prevent further escalation of the conflict.

The meeting also discussed the issue of providing Ukraine with air defense. In the face of constant attacks by Russia, the supply of modern air defense systems is critical for the protection of Ukrainian cities and important infrastructure. Canada has confirmed its readiness to support Ukraine in this matter.

President Zelensky also invited Canada Prime Minister to visit Ukraine. This visit can be an important step in strengthening bilateral relations and emphasizing the support of Canada's sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Earlier it became known that Canada will provide Ukraine with a new package of military assistance worth $ 5 billion (approximately $ 3.52 billion). These funds will be obtained from frozen assets of Russia, which is another important step in combating the Kremlin's aggression.
