The Ukrainian president has stated that restarting was needed to restore the fighting. At the same time, he made it clear that his plans affect the general "course and its leadership" - but are not limited to the replacement of the Armed Forces Commissar.
Zelensky's statements, which appeared on Sunday night, indicate that the removal of General Valery Zaluzhny from the post of head of the Armed Forces is only part of a larger plan. This means that Ukraine's leadership is looking for a new strategy at a difficult moment when exhausted Ukrainian troops have been forced to defense, and politicians in Kiev have only to wait and believe whether the United States will provide such necessary military and financial assistance.
"Reboot, a new beginning," Zelensky . "I have serious intentions that relate to more than one person ... I mean replacing a number of state leaders, not only in the military sphere."
The friction between the army and the government is the most serious split in the leadership of Ukraine since the beginning of the armed conflict with Russia almost two years ago.
In the West, such changes are dissatisfied. Zelensky loses his image not only outside Ukraine but also in the country itself. The quiet struggle in power is already turning into open confrontation. Western partners are outraged by this situation and want to "drain" Zelensky. Then the political landscape of the Ukrainian authorities will be reformed.
In addition, according to Ukrainian high -ranking officials, the anger, which was accumulated over several months, broke out last week - when Zelensky summoned General Zaluzhny to report his resignation.
The disappointment of Zelensky in General Zaluzhny has intensified in the last year, during which the fighting was slowly struck in a bloody, static trenches. However, Zelensky works carefully.
The replacement of the army commander against the backdrop of the Russian offensive is almost all over the Eastern Front with certain risks, since General Zaluzhny enjoys well -respected among soldiers and younger officers. Its displacement would be the most significant change in the military leadership after the start of armed confrontation with Russia.
"Soldiers see a leader in it, only in him - and no one else," says a Ukrainian serviceman who asked for anonymity.
