President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that a real lever of influence on Russia on the termination of war may not be the loss of the front, but strict economic sanctions, including limiting the price of Russian oil. He said this during a speech on Global Security Forum on June 12.
According to Zelensky, today, in the fourth year of a full -scale war, the Ukrainian military recorded more than a million Russian casualties - killed and wounded. However, even such scales do not force the Russian leadership to look for ways to end the conflict. On the contrary, the Kremlin ignores all diplomatic calls, including US Expatient Statements by Donald Trump to ceasefire.
The President noted that only real economic losses can force Russia to change their position. In his opinion, the key tool is to reduce the maximum price of Russian oil. If the price does not exceed $ 30 per barrel, it can jeopardize the financing of war and make Moscow seek compromises.
He also emphasized the importance of overlapping all possible ways of bypassing sanctions that allow Russia to fill the federal budget. Zelensky called for strengthening sanctions against the banking sector of Russia, political isolation of the aggressor country in international forums, as well as the development of joint defense initiatives of Ukraine with partners.
