The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, expressed the opinion that Russia's war against Ukraine may end sooner if Donald Trump's administration is again in charge of the White House. In the interview, he emphasized that during the time of Trump's work in the United States, there was constructive interaction with the Ukrainian side, and Ukraine had the opportunity to present its vision of peace in a reasoned manner. Zelensky noted that Trump understands the basic principles of the Ukrainian position, and did not disagree with them.
When asked about the possible demands of the US to Ukraine, Zelensky noted that the rhetoric of "Sit and listen" does not work with Ukraine, as it is an independent state. He also noted that he believed that under Trump, the war could end faster due to his approach and promises to his society.
The President emphasized that a just peace is important for Ukraine, which will not be based on the loss of the best for the sake of injustice. At the same time, Zelensky did not name the exact date of the end of the war, but expressed hope that the approach of the new American administration will contribute to its faster end.
