The President of Ukraine has stated that non -public talks are underway concerning the termination of hostilities. He noted that Ukraine has already agreed to this step, but there is no such consent from Russia.
He reported this during a meeting with the heads of territorial communities of Chernihiv region. He confirmed that the discussion of this topic is international, in particular between representatives of the United States and Russia. According to the President, despite the various interests that can be in the United States, Europe and Ukraine, all are united in the desire to end the fighting as soon as possible.
In his opinion, it is now important to increase the pressure on the Russian side. He expressed his hope that this could be given in the coming weeks or months. He also suggested that in certain situations such decisions are made unexpectedly and in the short term.
The President explained that the hot phase of the war will continue until the ceasefire is completely stopped. Ukraine is ready for this decision and views it as the right step. He stressed that temporary arrangements for one or two months are possible at first, which will allow the diplomatic process.
According to him, any pressure from one of the parties should be excluded for effective negotiations. He stressed that without termination of hostilities, any arrangement will look inferior and can be seen as coercion by one of the states.
The President also noted that Ukraine's international partners continue to support efforts to find ways to resolve conflict. He expressed his hope that these initiatives can bring a specific result, but it takes time.
