In an interview with CBS News, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared his position on war with the Russian Federation and expressed his desire that the President of the United States Donald Trump personally saw the consequences of this conflict. Zelensky also emphasized that US Vice president, Jay Di, is sometimes looking for an excuse for Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which does not correspond to the real picture of the war.
During an interview, a fragment of which appeared on CBS News YouTube channel, journalists asked Zelensky with a recent visit to the White House. They recalled that during this meeting, some American officials said that both sides were "suffering from Russia." In response, the President of Ukraine noted that it is necessary to clearly distinguish between the attacker and the victim and not to change the reality of the war. Zelensky also noted that during a controversial conversation, Vice president tried to justify Putin's actions, which could not be accepted, because it was not possible to look for something in the middle between the attacker and the victim. When asked by journalists about a possible meeting of Trump with the Ukrainian people, Zelensky suggested that the President of the United States visit Ukraine and see the consequences of aggression with his own eyes.
"We want you to come and look. You think you understand what is happening. We respect your position, but before any decisions and formats of negotiations, come to see people: civilians, warriors, hospitals, churches, children-destroyed or dead. The Ukrainian president added that Trump will be able to visit any city affected by the attacks and see the real picture of the war, without any preparations or productions. "You will understand what Putin has done. We will not cook anything, it will not be a theater with the preparation of actors on the streets. We do not do it, we do not need it," he said.
It should be noted that in February 2025 Zelensky visited the United States and met with Trump in the oval office to discuss the mineral agreement. During this meeting, the Ukrainian President tried to show the American leader photos of exhausted and tortured Ukrainian military who were returning from captivity in Russia. However, Trump did not pay attention to the photo and, together with Di Vance, criticized Ukraine, accusing it of insufficient gratitude and improper treatment during the war with the Russian Federation.
