Zelensky has approved new rules of service in the Armed Forces

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed decrees that make important changes to the Regulations on the passage of military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Changes apply, in particular, the appointment of servicemen with higher medical, pharmaceutical, psychological or rehabilitation education.

According to the new norms, during martial law, the appointment of such specialists to positions that do not correspond to their qualification is not allowed, except when this is at their request. The purpose of the changes is to ensure the effective use of personnel potential in the Armed Forces and to prevent inappropriate dispersion of specialized personnel.

It is about military personnel who:

  • have a master's degree in medical or pharmaceutical and appropriate certificates;

  • have education in psychology;

  • They received education or have undergone postgraduate training in areas of therapy, ergotherapy, physical therapy, prosthetics, biomedical engineering and more.

These persons should be trained under the relevant military programs and appointed to officers responsible for their specialization. According to the needs, they can be credited to contract service or mobilized with the title of a junior reserve lieutenant.

Another presidential decree provides the military without interruption from service to higher education at Ukrainian universities. This is about:

  • contractors who continued the service;

  • servicemen aged 18 to 25 years;

  • Officers who studied for government orders and have already served a period equal to the period of study.

Such training is possible with the consent of the commander of the connection or higher command, after considering the report of the serviceman and with the registration of the appropriate order.
