Changes in Ukraine: a decrease in the number of migrants who will receive state benefits

Since February 1, the number of internally displaced persons who will receive financial assistance from the Government of Ukraine will be significantly reduced. This was reported by the Ombudsman of Ukraine Dmitry Lubinets.

According to changes in the legislation, financial support will be received by about only 170,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) of more than 4.9 million people who are currently using this assistance.

Dmitry Lubinets expressed his disapproving opinion on these changes during the hearing in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Social Policy and Vetrans' Rights.

IDP payments were automatically extended by the end of January 2024, starting on August 1 last year. The amount of financial assistance remains at the level of UAH 3 thousand for persons with disabilities and children, and 2 thousand hryvnias for others.

In order to continue receiving this assistance, citizens will not need to take additional actions as payments will be automatically taken. IDP money will be paid the 15th and 28th of each month.
