In Ukraine, there is a significant increase in prices for vegetables and fruits caused by inflation, leaks and seasonal factors. Particularly noticeable changes in the cost of a traditional borsch set, which include potatoes, cabbage, carrots, beets and onions. For example, the price of potatoes has increased to more than 30 UAH/kg, which is three times higher than last year. Cabbage has also tripled, although its cost has recently decreased slightly against the backdrop of a limited offer. Weather conditions - hot summer and dry July - have significantly affected the yield, worsening the quality of vegetables, which is why many of them are not subject to long -term storage.
Fruits also went up significantly. Yes, the price of apples beat the seven -year record, and their cost has increased by more than 50% compared to last year. The demand for this fruit remains high, and its yield has decreased by 60-70%. Pears also felt price fluctuations: after the seasonal fall in prices in September, their value increased again in October.
High prices are due not only to the crop, but also by economic factors - the rise in prices for fuel, fertilizers and energy. Seasonal rise in greenhouse vegetables, such as cucumbers and tomatoes, is caused by a supply restriction. Greenhouse cucumbers have already reached the cost of 80-100 UAH/kg, which is the highest in the last seven years.
In order to prevent the deficit, the Ukrainian market began to actively import products from Poland, Georgia, Azerbaijan and other countries. This will help to cover the lack of local products, but will not stop the gradual increase in prices. Experts predict the further rise in the borsch set, especially closer to winter, because of the additional costs of logistics and storage of vegetables.
